English Essay #06

Message from an old friend

Time spent: 10 min for writing in Japanese, < 20 min for the translation, < 20 min for memorizing the proofread text

I checked LINE and found a message from a friend whose name I hadn't seen for several—maybe even ten—years. He was a classmate from the cram school I attended to prepare for junior high school entrance exams.

Before I opened the message, I felt uneasy, worrying that I might be accused of something I had done inadvertently. I mustered the courange to open the chat. The message said he thought he saw me in a sauna last Sunday and apologized if he was mistaken.

It actually was me. On that day, I ran along the Sumida River with a friend and went to a public bath with a sauna. It's a bit embarrassing to be seen by an acquaintance without noticing them, but I was really happy that he reached out to me because of such a trivial coincidence, especially since we haven't met for so many years.

Takeaways:

  • inadvertently
  • muster the courange
